Let's suppose you are negotiating a new project - a web application - with a customer.

What is the common approach to performance requirements? There are a lot of them and it's difficult to specify all of them in advance. The project is not agile, so we need to agree all the details beforehand.

For example:

  • max response time of the application interface
  • responsiveness during highload periods
  • how fast pages and all their content are loaded
  • etc

How do you specify performance requirements? How is the UAT perfromed? What tools do you use?

  • This is currently too broad. There is no canonical answer; the requirements will depend on the system and the problem domain, and if it isn't using emergent design then you simply need to bake change control into your contract. – Todd A. Jacobs May 10 at 18:55
