Are there any software/tools created specifically for estimating the cost of acquiring and maintaing software? I need to give university presentation about those kind of tools/software and while I'm familliar with plethora of project management software, none of them include this type of functionality. In my search, I only managed to find general ideas and models about this topic, not software.

Same question from little different perspective: What keywords (such as agile or scrum for software development) should I use when searching for software concerning estimation of software acquiring and maintaining?

  • Welcome to pmse. Software requests are at risk of closure, as they're both list-generating and prone to decay. Instead, consider rewriting your question to focus on the problem you're trying to solve. – Sarov May 17 at 19:41

There's no such thing. You'll have to develop your own Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) calculations based on your unique business circumstances. – Todd A. Jacobs May 17 at 22:07
