I've been managing software development projects for about 15 years, mostly in startup technology companies and for the past 6 years in a university research group. Most of our work is grant-funded, and we often don't have very clear requirements. That makes it difficult to implement most formal project management approaches -- they all assume that someone on the client side can tell you what your trying to build! As a result, my management style is pretty eclectic, and I'm always looking for new techniques for keeping my teams focused and engaged. I'm delighted to find this group, and I've learned something already from just spending about an hour here.
